The FA Level 5 for Technical Directors was born out of the increasing volume of clubs looking to develop a long term coherent strategy for the benefit of their football club. The FA Level 5 for Technical Directors course looks to challenge and support those individuals who are currently in the role as a Technical/ Sporting director or have been succession planed by clubs. The aim is to provide a journey of learning, developing highly skilful leaders within football capable of creating sustained success.
The programme has been designed using expertise from those who have held the role of Technical Director, including the ASD’s founder Mike Rigg. Mike continues to support the course and consults on the content and delivery of the programme to ensure its linked to the role. The course is 20 months in duration and includes modules on; Leading Self, Leading Others, High Performing Teams, The Future Game and the Business of football. So far the group have explored leadership, culture and strategy at organisations such as Google, BMW, Nokia, SAS, The All Blacks and Bayern Munch.
As part of the latest module the group were hosted by 24 Squadron at the RAF Base in Brize Norton. During this module the group were given insightful talks about how the RAF develop pilots decision making, how the use standard review processes to maximise learning and were provided a unique opportunity to fly the A400M transport plane simulator.
