Applications Open for ASD new Executive Leadership Programme the Alternative Sporting Director MBA
The Association of Sporting Director is proud to announce the launch of our new executive leadership programme, the Alternative Sporting Director Masters in Business Administration (AltSD MBA). This is an exclusive programme aimed at aspiring Sporting Directors, which is led and delivered by leading Sporting Directors and academic experts. The unique programme is designed by football-leaders and focused on real-world insights, case studies and genuine connection with leading Sporting Directors.

They need a real connection and relationship with leading Sporting Directors to gain a real understanding of the skills and capabilities facing leaders in our game. We have been able to blend this cutting edge insight, with empirical insights from leading academic experts and industry partners. This programme will help aspiring Sporting Directors take the next step in their careers”.
This unique programme, designed for aspiring Sporting Directors, is led by globally renowned Paul Mitchell current Sporting Director of Newcastle United, formerly of AS Monoco, Redbull, Tottenham and Southampton. Paul commented:
“We are committed to supporting the talent pathway of aspiring Sporting Directors. They will learn from established Sporting Directors working in elite professional environments at the top of the game, alongside football leaders from around world and leading academics. Importantly, our mentorship programme will ensure aspiring Sporting Directors get the support they need to make real progress in the leadership and careers.”
The blended programme kicks off with a three-day immersive experience in London (England) in February 2025, followed by eight virtual sessions in our online classroom between March-November 2025. The executive leadership programme concludes in a three-day immersive experience in December 2025 in Liverpool (England).
The AltSD MBA programme is an ASD educational programme and explicitly not affiliated directly with a University. One if its strengths will be its agility and ability to focus on the aspiring Sporting Director and their learning journey.
