On Thursday 11th November 2021 we hosted a workshop focused on Innovation, Change and Decision-Making as part of the Association of Sporting Directors Global Programme. Below is the slides, additional content and recording from the session.
Dr Sam Lloyd, SVP of Elite at Hudl shared some his insight on how technology companies approach managing change. — Sam holds a PhD from Loughborough University in the effects of video analysis on player development and the athlete / coach relationship. Using this research Sam founded a video analysis company called Replay Analysis, which was acquired by Hudl in 2014. Since then Sam has held various leadership roles, and currently heads up the entire Elite focused business. Working across all professional sports and Division 1 Universities, Sam has a broad base of experience from small, on budget analysis implementations in Chile, to major multi stakeholder projects in the NBA and Premier League.
Tim Keech (Co-Founder) and Andrew McGregor (Managing Partner and Head Scout) at MRKT Insights oversaw an applied case study scenario on football and change.

Dr Mark Batey, Reader and expert in Creativity and Innovation, and Director of the Masters in Sport Directorship at Manchester Metropolitan University, recapped us on the creative problem-solving process, before running an interactive activity.

Stephen Mutch, Lead Physiotherapist for Ireland Men’s XV Rugby Team. Stephen is actively involved in research on decision-making, counterfactual thinking and return to sport. He discussed his insight and research on decision-making.
Edward Sulley, Director of Customers Solutions at Hudl gave an insight on how communication from his time in football and technology companies. — Edward has 20 years of professional football experience and joined Hudl after a successful 11 year period at one of the fastest growing global sports organisations, City Football Group (CFG), working with 7 clubs in Manchester, New York, Melbourne, Yokohama, Girona, Montevideo and Chengdu. His diverse experiences and qualifications span Coaching, Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Medical, Scouting, Recruitment, Research, Innovation, Strategy, Project Management and Leadership. During the last 5 years, his main focus at CFG was to design and implement a football strategy for their clubs in Japan and China, leveraging best practice knowledge.
